Getting Started

Can I just walk in and train?

No, and that is by design. Tone Up 2 is a private, appointment-based studio, not an open gym. Every new client starts with a free consultation so we can build a plan around your goals before you ever pick up a weight.

How do I book my first visit?

Call (773) 551-9550 or send the form on the contact page and we will set up your free consultation at a time that fits your week.

What happens at the free consultation?

You talk with a coach about your goals, health history and weekly schedule, tour the studio, and get a recommendation for the right format and plan, with exact pricing. There is no charge and no obligation.

I have never trained before. Is this the right place for me?

Yes. Most of our clients did not walk in as athletes. Your plan starts with an assessment, so you begin at your level, and a coach guides every rep from day one. Beginners are the reason the consultation exists.

Do I need to get in shape before I start?

No. Getting in shape is what the plan is for. The assessment tells us your starting point and the program is built from there, not from some imagined fitness level.

What should I bring to a session?

Comfortable training clothes, gym shoes and a water bottle. Everything else, from equipment to the plan, is waiting for you at the studio.

Coaching

Personal Training

What personal training formats do you offer?

1-on-1 with your own coach, partner training for two people, semi-private in a group of max 3, personal weight training, weight loss training and online coaching. Every format is compared on the personal training page so you can see which one fits.

Who will actually train me?

A certified personal trainer with NASM or ACE credentials, coaching your session live from start to finish. You can meet the whole team on our coaches page before you ever visit.

How often will I train?

That depends on your goal, your schedule and your recovery, which is exactly what the consultation works out. Your coach recommends a weekly frequency and your sessions are scheduled around your week, not the other way around.

How does online personal training work?

You train remotely with a Chicago-based coach: live sessions, a program that travels with you and check-ins that keep you accountable. Details are on the online personal training page including how sessions run.

Do you help with weight loss?

Yes, it is one of the most common goals here. The approach combines coached workouts, nutrition habits and accountability, built to last rather than crash. See weight loss training for the full method.

Group Formats

Fitness Classes

How big are the classes?

Small and capped, so every class is coached rather than just supervised. Small group training runs 3 to 5 people, and no class here ever feels like a crowd with music on.

Which class should I start with?

Follow the goal: sweat and calorie burn point to boot camp or cardio kickboxing, strength points to the weights formats. If you are unsure, the free consultation matches you to a class in ten minutes.

Do I need experience for kickboxing or weight training classes?

No. Cardio kickboxing needs no fighting background, and the weight training classes are technique-first, with loads that progress as you do. Coaches scale every class to the people in the room.

Where do I see current class times?

The live timetable is on the class schedule page with morning and evening times through the week. Spots are reserved by phone.

Do classes ever run outdoors?

In summer, yes. When the weather allows, some sessions move to the outdoor training area behind the studio. Same coaches, more sunshine.

Cost

Pricing and Plans

How much does personal training cost?

It depends on the format you choose and how often you train, so plans are priced individually. Current rates and how pricing works are on the pricing page and you get your exact quote at the free consultation, before you commit to anything.

Do you sell memberships or day passes?

No. There is no open gym floor to buy access to. Every person training at Tone Up 2 is on a coached plan with reserved session times, which is why the studio never gets crowded.

Can I share sessions with someone to lower the cost?

Yes. Partner training puts two people with one coach in a shared session, and semi-private training spreads coaching across a group of max 3. Both bring the per-person cost down while keeping individual programming.

Practical

Studio, Parking and Hours

Where are you located and is parking easy?

We are at 5335 N Harlem Ave, Chicago, IL 60656, half a mile south of the Kennedy Expressway and the Blue Line. Parking is easy, right by the door. Directions are on the contact page with a map.

What are your hours?

Monday to Sunday, 6 AM to 10 PM, by appointment only. Early mornings and evenings fill first, so call ahead to reserve your slot.

What does a private studio actually mean?

No open gym floor, no crowds and no waiting for equipment. The only people in the studio are booked clients and their coaches. You can see the whole space on the studio tour before you visit.

Do you train people from outside Chicago?

Yes, many clients drive in from the Northwest Side and nearby suburbs like Norridge, Harwood Heights, Park Ridge, Rosemont and Schiller Park. Our service area pages have directions from each town.

Can I see the studio before deciding anything?

Yes, the tour is part of the free consultation. You see the training floor, the equipment and the outdoor area, meet a coach and then decide in your own time.

The fastest answer is one phone call away, and the best one usually comes with a studio tour attached.
