Sports and physical activity have always been a major part of my life, and I still find them as exhilarating today as I did when I was a kid. That is what led me to become a personal trainer: I wanted to share my passion for training with others and inspire them on their own health and fitness journeys.

I began my career at two of the biggest fitness corporations in the country, one year at X-Sport Fitness followed by eight years at Bally’s Total Fitness. After nine years in big box gyms I chose a different path, and in 2014 I co-founded Tone Up Club, a private fitness studio, so I could fully customize individual programs for my clients and design classes our members looked forward to.

In 2020 I decided the time had come to open my own studio. I started Tone Up 2 Fitness to take the 19 years of experience I had built and keep helping people reach their health and fitness goals. I find that a positive attitude and a sense of humor go a long way in building lasting relationships with clients, and in showing them how training and healthy eating habits can change their lives.

I believe in the benefits of physical fitness. Playing football, basketball, boxing and martial arts showed me what a consistent fitness regimen can do, and it pushed my interest toward personal training.

I have enjoyed being in the fitness industry for over 20 years. Helping clients achieve fitness and life goals is my motivation. Weight loss, weight gain, bodybuilding and athletic training are the key parts of my background, and I have kept some clients for over 10 years because of the bond we build. Finding the underlying motivation that gets someone past plateaus and obstacles is what the job is really about.

The personal part of being a personal trainer is my connection with clients. Developing their programs, overcoming obstacles and reaching goals together is the ultimate plan.

The journey to being healthy and fit is never linear. As a kid I gravitated toward sports, and volleyball and soccer carried me through high school. Then, as it does, life happened.

After graduating from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a bachelor’s degree in Managerial Studies and a minor in Psychology, followed by 15 years in big box retail, I realized the tremendous impact of having someone in your corner pushing you past the chaos of everyday life. In 2020 I earned my CPR/AED certification with the American Red Cross and my Certified Personal Trainer certificate with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Since then I have rotated through boot camp classes and individual and group strength and endurance training, with a focus on strength building and proper form to maximize results and avoid injury.

I believe in sharing my own struggles and successes in the most authentic way, because you are never too old for this, and yes, you are enough.

I have loved physical fitness since my days of doing pull-ups on tree branches in my backyard and bicep curls with gallons of milk from the fridge. My first career was as a mechanic, and while I enjoyed working on cars, I did not go home feeling fulfilled.

What I really wanted was to help people train toward their fitness goals and become their best selves. So I pursued it: I earned my International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) certification in April 2019, and the following spring I added the ISSA certificate in Youth Training.

You will find that I am a caring, dedicated and passionate trainer. Whether you want to lose weight, tone a specific area or just get a good sweat in, my mission is to get you on the right path and help you conquer your fitness goals.

For as long as I can remember, my life has revolved around fitness. As a little girl I danced and played a variety of sports. As a teenager I swam, ran and cycled every chance I got. As an adult, those passions turned into a focus on health, wellness and nutrition.

I have more than six years of experience as a certified personal trainer, working with clients from 16 to 65 years old with a wide range of needs. I am known for helping clients reach their goals through tailored exercise programs and eating plans, and for motivating people to make remarkable transformations. I love learning new things, so I keep boosting my clients’ progress with the latest training methods and nutrition concepts.

Beyond the knowledge, I believe I bring the right balance of empathy and people skills to help every client get where they want to go.

I have always had a passion for sports and fitness. As a kid I played soccer, volleyball and table tennis and trained wrestling and judo. During high school I fell in love with weightlifting: lifting, researching and learning everything I could about diets and different types of training.

That is what led me to become a personal trainer. I want to help people achieve their fitness goals, and I believe anybody can do it if they put in the effort. I am here to help you physically and mentally on your lifting journey.

FAQ

Questions About Our Coaches

Are Tone Up 2 coaches certified personal trainers?

Yes. Every coach holds a personal training certification from a nationally recognized organization: NCSF, ISSA, NASM or WITS. Several hold additional credentials, including soft tissue work (FMT Blades, IASTM), youth training, stretch and maternal health, and nutrition coaching.

How do I get matched with a coach?

It starts with afree consultation. We talk through your goals, training history and schedule, then pair you with the coach whose strengths fit what you want to achieve.

Can I switch coaches later?

Tell us. If another coach’s style or schedule fits you better, we would rather adjust than have your progress stall. It is one team working toward the same goal: yours.

Do the same coaches teach the group classes?

Yes. Ourfitness classesare led by the same certified team that runs personal training, so the coaching quality does not change with the format.

Can I train with a health condition or after surgery?

The team has experience working with clients managing high blood pressure, diabetes, and recovery after back and joint surgery. Bring it up at your consultation and check with your doctor first, and your program will be built around what is safe for you.

Do coaches help with nutrition too?

Coaching includes practical guidance on eating habits that support your training, and the team includes a certified nutrition coach. This is habit-level coaching, not medical dietetics.

How do I get started?

Book afree consultation, call(773) 551-9550or send a message through thecontact page. We will take it from there.
